its about the music, man!
November 7, 2008 – 8:21 pmThere is lots of fun music (not necessarily “good”) out there, and here I have a mix of both.
First Up: YtCracker and MC Lars with Manifest Destiny
While I’m not much an MC Lars fan, this duo put together a great song for the album DG album ($1).
I’m not good at figuring out exactly what it is that does it, but the rap style reminds me of the Beastie Boys.
First, is a music that is more fun than good, but the story of Basshunter’s DOTA is that of a Swedish gamer singing about his obsession with a WCIII mod called “Defense of the Ancients“.
His popularity overseas skyrocketed, and eventually he came over to the US to do an English dance/trance song.
Kate Nash
Secondly, in the realm of European music I found Kate Nash who has some great songs on her MySpace, beginning with her version of “Baby Love”.
Her charm is undeniable and her music is heart felt.
Volt Per Octaves
A little lot closer to home, is the best Moog band in Santa Barbara.
They are fun, and because it is all family in the band and has a 70s funk sound, you get the feeling it was inspired by The Partridge Family.
Rocket Propelled Radio – Nerd Rock/Rap
RPR is a streaming radio that is dedicated to streaming artist-submitted content for Nerd/Geek Rock/Rap/Metal.
You can find bigger artists and smaller artists, MC Chris, MC Frontalot, Ytcracker, Zealous1, and other big names in the nerdcore genre.
As a side note, EPP‘s ZED album is pretty bad, and fortunately, it doesn’t get a lot of play on RPR.
The title track is good, but there is too much non-music skits going and detracts from the point of a “music’ album.
